Lifestyle Photography is the latest gallery that we are launching to showcase my work in on the shiny new website.  There are 3o plus images in this gallery, so take a few minutes to scroll through the images. That Sure is One Big Buddha

This Buddha is located just around the corner from where I am staying. Unless you poke your head into places, you would never notice things, even ones this large. Oftentimes, the entrances are quite unremarkable but when you go in there is something spectacular such as this large Buddha. And there is the value of using local knowledge to find out where to go. Guide books are only so good, and really, all of them are quite limited in revealing […]

Spinning the Dharma Wheel in Singapore

At a downtown Singapore Tibetan Buddhist Temple, a man spins a large prayer wheel with the aim of ridding bad karma. The temple is open 24 hours a day and you can often hear people chanting in the main hall. In the span of a short walk, Singapore is a wild mix of shops, restaurants, temples, mosques, churches, old buildings and modern high rises. It’s a really wild juxtaposition that borders on surreal. If you find yourself in Asia, it’s […]

Ria Ambrose – Comox Valley Portrait Photographer

The eyes of Ria. Ria’s eyes are compelling. I love the power of her stare and the frame of colour that envelopes her face. I love the way her hair curls to meet her lips. Beautiful. Bye for now. Gordon

The Art of Tattooing – Comox Valley Photographer

Janel Lessard gets a tattoo from Lawson Metail at Art and Soul in Courtenay, BC. It’s a special person who can do art on the medium of skin. The concentration required is intense especially because the medium moves — it’s not static like a canvas. And it’s living. Although Janel’s tattoos look amazing in colour, the contrast of black and white captures the intensity of the ink going into her skin the way a colour photograph simply can’t. Janel and […]
